May 26, 2009 It didn’t come easy with East scoring the games only run in the 9th inning. Alex Thompson hit an opposite field single to drive in the winning run after Hillary Ballinger’s infield single and Emily Lafferty’s walk. Ironically they are all seniors who wouldn’t be denied another title. East junior pitcher Erin Pollock settled down after the first inning to get the win from the mound. Her shut out included 21 batters retired in a row. The Hawks will now face Colerain in the Regional Semi-Finals on Wednesday at the University of Dayton beginning at 5:00 pm. The Cardinals defeated Mason 4-1 to advance. |
